Microsoft Reminds Users Of Auto SP2 Update Deadline

Microsoft has begun reminding users who last year blocked the installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) that a deadline is fast approaching. On April 12, all blocking mechanisms will expire and Windows XP and XP SP1 systems will automatically download and update to SP2.

LOL, microsoft have some little hackers up dey!!! I personally don't have a problem with this cuz it does not affect my computer in anyway, apart from taking up extra space. Well unless u know something that i don't megiddo, please share.

look at it this way. if you have dial-up, and then you are forced to download it. then whenever u go online its going to be very slow until its finished. also, just the fact that they can do that, just shows you that if someone hacked microsoft's update system. then everyone connected to their server, could be forced to download a virus or trojan.

On April 12th, you will have to get your custom trojan or virus from the Windows Update server. The name of this trojan/virus is w32.SP2. It has been found in the wild and is a high risk trojan. McAfae, Norton, Trend Micro and Panda have warned all Fortune 500 companies of this risk.

This is some really serious stuff. I didn't know that Microsoft had that power. The power to bypass the consumer turning off auto-update on their own computer to install one of their 'updates'.

Personally, i still have my qualms about SP2. I don't trust it.

Yup, they certainly do. I think it's appart of their whole anti-piracy thing that they've been up to. They've designed Halo 2 to check your system for a Mod-Chip or a different HDD. If you have any of the above you wont be able to play Halo 2 on Xbox-Live.
