Default I need some help to Secure my Wireless Home Network

I need some assistance to set up an ENCORE Wireless router

    Click here to view http://www.etech4sale.com/152272/enc...-g-54mbps.html

Issue is I can't seem to set a WEP KEY on this device...I am a newbie here and I would love some assistance in doing this properly cause the dude next door is killing my speeds by constantly loggin on to my wifi network.

    Post your instructions.

    Thanks!

I particularly wanted help with this router cause somehow I think it is different or it's just me being a NOOB to wireless security.

dont know about you but i hate WEP security, on my wireless network i only use MAC Filtering. This only allows wireless devices you manually add by MAC address to your network. Only downside is that its a manual process, but in the end more secure...correct me if im wrong

well,i only use WPA2 personal for now still, this morning i look at my wifi router and it a blink out backside and mi not using mi lappy and the desktop not on, so mi decide to check the router and when mi look i dont see no ip address in the wireless section and when mi turn on mi lappy and connect it, it show mi that its connected and other info, so even though its blinking there wasnt any access, weird but thats wat i got...im using Flo-w 8mbps...got internet from FLO-W yesterday...off the C-W 768kbps wagon

jus try another security type, athough that router is VERY limited on security features (WPA-PSK, WPA, SPI), or jus get a better router

MAC filter, WEP/WPA & disable SSID broadcast will keep 99% of leechers out. In the case of your leecher barretrs, disabling SSID broadcast after changing SSID may be sufficient.

I wish I could find an (inexpensive) router that did throttling ie limit an IP to x Mbit/sec. Anyone know of such?

check ur router for Quality of Service (QoS) feature in the router. i mostly work with linksys but i havent used the linksys firmware in a long time so am not sure if it has QoS. i use the DD-WRT firmware and it has QoS which u can apply to the ports on the router or by service or by ip or by mac address

Kila I don't know if this is too much trouble but could you set up Mac Filtering on my Wifi for me? Reason being I am yet to sort out this Wep issue plus I think I am having some serious NOOBIE issues getting this wifi router to be secured.

Let me know if you can help....I live in Portmore.
