Question HELP: CISCO VPN and windows clients

I need help with a config.

I have this Cisco VPN setup and working when clients are using the CISCO VPN Client.

However I would like users that don't have the client to be able to connect to the VPN with their default windows clients.

for now, it doesn't work. is there some setting I'm overlooking?

    please help..

You are going to have to give a little bit more details for assistance. In other words on the Windows XP default client what have you configured?

    e.g.
    1. Have you gone to Properties under the VPN connection that you have setup and gone to the Networking Tab and changed it to L2TP IPSec VPN.

    2. Have you clicked on the Security tab and edited Settings under Advanced [Custom Settings]

    3. What are protocol are you using for Authentication? PAP? CHAP? MS-CHAP

    4. If not using password authentication, what type of Certificate have you configured?

    5. What Cisco device is providing your VPN gateway? Pix? ASA?

Some vendors usually provide instructions on how to use their bundled VPN client as well as the settings required to the use the built in VPN client in the OS.

    1. YES
    2. YES
    3. MD5
    4. using password Auth
    5. ASA (Easy VPN Server)

As I said, when I use the Cisco VPN client, everything works fine, however,, we would like devices that don't (can't) use this client to also be able to connect to the VPN

    ERROR 792:
The L2TP connection failed because the security negotiation timed out.

In order to connect with let say Microsoft software, you will need to setup L2TP on the ASA.

I'll give it a shot, and report what happens, even tho' I have this strange feeling I followed the cisco link on a previous occasion.
