We have to make the map more mature before we can request that, I am working to have the national land agency submit there data that will cover about 95% of jamaica.

That would be really good. Adding the street names isn't difficult and I'm sure many of us would be willing to help. I've been adding street names a while now, mainly in St. Ann and St. Mary.

I just tried to edit some places and it says edits for Jamaica are locked or something along those lines. Whats going on exactly? I see whole heap of edits for review from all over the world on the side.

You can click the "Bullhorn" beside the ? to reload announcements and try the same thing.

I posted in the mapmaker forums about it and got this response:

"Map Maker suffered a massive spam attack and was shut down around the world.
It is slowly being reopened a few features and countries at a time, most of the world remains unavailable.
Google is striving to reopen all formerly available countries as soon as possible."

I got the same thing and the form to be a regional leader is not accepting any new submissions now either.

Google Map Maker will be retired in March 2017.

Since 2008, the Google Map Maker community has edited and moderated millions of features to improve the Google Maps experience for users worldwide. To make it easier for all Google Maps users to contribute changes to the map while at home or on the go, we’ve started to graduate functionality from Map Maker to Google Maps on both desktop and mobile.

Key editing features currently available in Google Maps include:

• Add a place
• Edit info about a place
• Share more details about a place
• Moderate edits
• View the status of your edits

We’ll continue to add new editing features within Google Maps on an ongoing basis.
