Need help :- USB-RS232

I am trying to connect my satellite receiver to my laptop via usb-rs232 cable. But my o/s (win xp) detects new hardware , but cant find drivers to install or detect , even when i try the CD that came with the cable. I tried installing drivers from the net, but the h/w is not being linked-up with the driver.
Has anyone tried this before......pls help !!!!!!
If someone can tell me what to define the device as 'multiport serial adapter' or 'com and lpt' etc etc, and how to go abt getting it done, i'll be grateful.

maybe its not Xp compatible. MAke sure its XP compatible. But why not use the rs232, i always use it for my cw-600s and cw-600 p.
