Student Thumbs Her Way to Cell Phone Text Record
Student Thumbs Her Way to Cell Phone Text Record
Business-administration student Kimberly Yeo, 23, thumbed her way into the Guinness Book of Records by typing a complicated 26-word message on hercell phone Latest News about cell phones in 43.66 seconds.
Yeo performed her record-setting feat of texting during the "SingTel SMS Latest News about SMS Shootout," organized by Singpore Telecom.
Yeo's effort could beat by a wide margin the existing SMS text message record of 67 seconds, set on September 24, 2003, by UK citizen James Trusler in Sydney, Australia, Singapore Telecom said.
Like many of her fellow Singaporeans, Yeo is reportedly an avid sender of text messages, sending about 50 a day, or 1,500 a month.
Mobile phones are now commonplace in the Southeast Asian city-state, especially among teenagers and young adults. Four out of five people in Singapore already have a cell phone, one of the highest densities anywhere.
