    Which command will cause a Linux system to reboot?

    True, but this question is there to see if individuals know what the different runlevels do.

    Doubt u can find the book in most bookshops though

    init 0 shuts down the system
    init 1 starts Linux in 'single' mode
    init 2 (never used)
    init 3 multi-user mode
    init 4 (never used)
    init 5 multi-user graphic mode
    init 6 reboots system
    .

    I have to argue with runlevel 2 and 4..

    your explanation applies to redhat but not all distributions.

    My distro uses runlevel 4 for gui.

    It's true that these questions do lean towards Red Hat methods.... The never used should actually be not officially defined. Other distros (and perhaps system administrators) may determine how these runlevels are defined.
