JALUG will be starting its network administrator's course in February.
Each month we will conduct a session on an aspect of Linux networking. Some of those who attended last year are now working as Linux administrators. Igodit, Megiddo and Yatta are just some of the people who have attended.
The course starts out with some of the basic technologies and then moves to the applications that run on these technologies. The proposed topics are as follows:
DNS - February
DHCP - March
Linux firewalls - April
Directory services with OpenLDAP - May
qmail (2 sessions) - June and July
Samba ( 2 sessions) - August and September
Linux instant messaging servers - October
Linux routers - November
There may be changes to the topics and the schedules but these should not be significant.
JALUG is a non-profit organization and the cost of each session is JAD 250.00 per person. This goes towards covering costs associated with holding the sessions. For more information about JALUG, see www.jalug.org.
Meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Adjoined Consulting has kindly allowed us to use their facilities. They are located at the 2nd Floor, Dyoll Building, 40 Knutsford Blvd, Kingston 5.
