Good thinking still, but I just searched with "Find" and file was not present in XP windows directory.

I think when you run setup, in some cases like windows98, the boot files are backed up on the root of the hard drive. I probably did the same to the W2K NTLDR file as a habbit when I was installing XP.

If the file was not in the recyle bin, other than ropy's solution and all yours, I do not know of any other solution. Those are simple and practical. For real .

welll hear is what i would do

1.boot with the win2000 hardrive as master right
2.copy the ntldr file to the system 32 folder---

actually i would rung safemode first--so i can findout out about the files required still.

anyway after placing back the file i will then reboot the bloody box that should do it

The saftemode would help but I think adding any other missing file would prolong the inevitable compatble issues. Remember, each additional file does not really belong.

Then again it might just work. Who knows, LOL

    I am closing thread tomorrow
