Wow. That's rather devious. I saw the referrals but never installed. Glad I didn't.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".

Influencers suing Honey/PayPal may be the beginning and could also be a pre-emptive strike. I wouldn't be surprised if the influencers' followers sue the influencers themselves for misleading them because they didn't get the discounts/coupons as "promised".
