    Default Flow / Digicel - 5G ????

Seems the buck in Jamaica stops at 4G LTE 😌

Flow and Digicel not logging onto 5G ??? Or we skipping that and maybe jump on 6G when that available??

I was wondering the same thing the other day. Is it because everybody a fight out 5G why they haven't rolled it out?

Could be a cost decision. They may not have made a ROI on their 4G infrastructure, or, they just want to milk it for all they can.

Both FLOW and Digicel launched 5G earlier this summer over by our neighbours in the Cayman Islands. I think it will happen soon enough, but the delay is indeed head-scratching.

The moment I receive a call 4G/LTE drops to H+,3G or no data. No way are we ready for "5G".

They are likely trying to make sure they have spectrum available and also since they will need more areas to mount more antenna's for 5G vs 4G they are likely looking at ROI to see how feasible it is to introduce.

They should have implemented VoLTE with their existing stuff. IMO.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".

    I agree.

As Bubba said, its annoying when you answer a call and it drops back to H+

VoLTE is actually being rolled out currently in JA. Should go live by end of the year.

Based on the Telcos don't look forward to 5G anytime soon.

"...5G is not viable given the density of towers required and the cost of laying fibre to connect them. He noted that Caribbean operators have invested over USD500 million in infrastructure upgrades since 2017 but have yet to see a return on their investment. Telcos’ revenues are flat and declining even though mobile data traffic has increased by 500 percent because consumers utilise the free voice services of Over the Top (OTT) providers."
