    Default Security Career Path

I need a little help. Ive basically put my It career on the back burner and transitioned to Graphic Design and Sign making. However I'm migrating in a couple mths and I may just enter the workforce again in the US. I did have a CCNA cert but never upgraded to CCNP.. Anyways I'm thinking of going the security route. I need recommendations as to certs I would to be competitive in the area. Currently doing a course Introduction to Cyber Security from heart. This is in association with Cisco NetaCad. What other certs do you guys recommend to help me on my path?

There are a few certs you may target, but certs are only a foot in the door, nothing beats experience. If you can try for any job, even volunteer and entry-level in the cybersecurity or network security space you'll be in a better position and on your way. Certs, the good ones that companies look for like CISSP, require some experience anyway.

Certainly nothing beats a start. You will certainly have to network your way in some spaces as the demand is there but also very competitive. Add bootcamp programs to your research to identify more possibilities. Weigh your options from there. Bootcamps are not a one stop shop but can be a way for you start as most programs will help graduates with job search and/or job opportunities at the end.

All the best on the journey.

As a start I would say the CompTia Security+ cert as a start as most security related jobs will require that. Having a network background would also be an asset. Check out the CompTia security path on their website to see what certs would be best.

In times like these I really think a chat feature would work. I'd like to send some info but my inbox kinda full - lol.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".

It all depends on the which field area of security you'll like to go into.

However Paul had created a Road Map about 2 years ago, should still be relevant.

    you can take a look.

Honestly without any experience in the field its best to just start with CompTia security certs as more advanced certs more likely won't do you any good without experience to back it. Im currently in the field and was lucky enough to land a security job months after finishing university. After being in the field i started with the CompTia Secirity+ then CYSA+ and aslo did some Azure cloud certs.
Im in JA but i know that in the US especially in government the CompTia certs are a minimum requirement.
