Which is preferred, nVidia or AMD these days? I have a few nVidia I want to upgrade but trying to figure if I should wait and switch to AMDs new Navi, rumored to be out mid year.
Let me know your thoughts.

Depends on your budget, resolution and how you will future proof your system. I have a 1080 screen right now so my next purchase would be to future proof for a 1440 screen...likely AMD.
AMD Phenom II X4 960T Zosma @ 4GHz | Thermalright Ultima 90 CPU cooler | GIGBABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P | Sapphire 6950 unlocked | 6Gb Gskill RAM | 1.5TB total HD | Dell U2412M IPS Monitor | Zalman 750W PSU | LENOVO SL500
Nvidia still holding the top spot for most powerful energy efficient cards, but AMD is more affordable with majority of their lineups and they support freesync which is good if you can get a decent freesync monitor as well.
Current Android - OnePlus 12
PC Specs - Motherboard: Asus PRIME B560-PLUS | Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K (stock) | Memory: 32 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR4@3200mhz | Video Card: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4070 (OC Edition) | Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming 27" 2K Monitor | Steam ID -> Powpow
Look for performance per dollar and ignore brand name.
1.8 Ghz Pentium 4 (OC'd.) / Intel P4 (478) Motherboard / 800MHz DDR / 256 Mb DDR RAM / 40GB Seagate / RIVA TNT2 Pro 32MB / 24X12X24 Sony CDRW+ / 18" View Sonic CRT / Windows ME Yes it will play Doom... i plan on trying Crysis 3 one of these days.
I've always been nVidia, from the 750Ti (way back when) up to 1070Ti (current). I've had a good run with nVidia, bang for buck, and no major driver/firmware issues (knock on wood). I had to draw brakes on upgrading to the 1080Ti a while back - price was ridiculous. Humbled myself then, and now looking if it is at all feasible to make a move. I'm good with my current gaming habit (CoD) plus the CUDA apps are comfortable. My 3 screens are 1080 too.
With the cost of electricity, I gotta keep energy efficiency in mind. Currently, my system can pull > 500W OC'd during any gaming session (i7 7700K, 32GB DDR4 HyperX, 1070Ti), like a dang heater when it ready. Luckily, I don't have as much time to game these days - work gets in the way. If we just looking at performance, AMD would win on cost. JPS is my bigger concern.

I guess you could wait on 7nm from either AMD or NVidia. Do you know if Nvidia fixed a bug on some of their graphics card where some models use more power than expected in a Multi Monitor setup?
