In group policy there is an option to select notify when to download and also install.
Its a one time operation, better that than to turn on/off service each time.
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Configuration\WIndows Updates then Configure Automatic Updates

I just strongly believe I should be the one in control of my computer and not some corporation thousands of miles away. I believe I should be in control of the information I share with them, and not them choosing what information they need from me.Originally Posted by GPRS

Soon enough you'll realize that you're fighting a loosing battle... once you go on the internet you hand over control to Big Brother...
If you think you can ever truly be in control you only fooling yourself..
Best you can do is not have anything sitting around that Big Brother can possible use against you..
Registry method worked. There was an option during setup that asked who owned the computer me or an organization. Maybe that affected group policies.
Code:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU] "AUOptions"=dword:00000003
