They would have to recess their home button, which I why I say if they implement something like touch ID I'm sure there is gonna be some kinda infringement on Apple...

The Huawei has their scanner on the back, similar to HTC.. not on the front like Apple... and their scanner is square not round.. lol
Oh you are talking about looks? I was talking about functionality. The HTC one requires swiping also.

Apple didnt buy any technology. Finger print scanner isnt for sale and isnt owned by anyone.

Apple might have trade marked the name "Touch ID". So no one else can use the word. Just like retina and they also tried trade marking "appstore" lol.

I am sure Apple would try to sue if someone made it look exactly the same. They tried suing for rectangle shape in the past.

But I was talking about functionality and the Huawei works just the same as the finger print scanner on Iphones.. I dont see anyone else anyone else gonna use a round home button.

And reason i brought up the words is because I dont expect technical persons to use those words. They know better lol.

Apple bought AuthenTec a company that dealt with the whole touch ID thing... It wasn't Apple's technology..
Buying the company they also bought the companies patents and trademarks associated with Touch ID..

In 2012, Apple acquired AuthenTec, a company focused on fingerprint reading and identification management software, for $356 million.

The one on the Huawei might work in similar ways, but I'm saying the shape and placement of it has allot to do with them being able to use it..
Having the scanner on the back of the device slows you down some.. and it's not a natural place to put it...

Shape, placement... Really dude? That's all opinion and preference, cant argue with that.

And there are many other companies that do finger print scanning. No ones owns it.

Apple also bought a navigation company. Samething

Somebody has to own patents on the technology/software being used... it can't be an open source system.. if that was the case every phone and device would have it..

The shape and placement is vital.. Apple would patent the placement on the front of the device and it being round.. Apple has million of patents on it's devices,. why you think Samsung paying dearly for it now lol...

You don't just buy companies for buy sake.. you buy them the get technology and patents...
Lol at part in bold... You buy companies because they have something you want. Apple wanted to rival google maps, how else were they suppose to do it?

Apple cant patent the placement on the front. Does that even make sense?

According to the patent application, a user would first place their finger on the device, prompting a fingerprint scan and recognition. They’d then be presented with a secondary screen, either r a rotating dial that lets them input a combination in the same way you would with a standard combination lock, or with a pattern screen that resembles those Google uses as a passcode option on its Android devices.
Made no mention of on front.

Patents can be how existing technologies function when put together.

When using a semiconductor fingerprint sensor, or integrated circuit fingerprint sensor, in a portable electronic device, for example, a mobile telephone, it may be desirable to locate the integrated circuit of the fingerprint sensor separately from the finger sensing region.

Separating the finger sensing integrated circuit (IC) from the finger sensing area may be particularly advantageous when the finger sensing area is relatively thin and transparent so that it may be placed over the top of a display of the portable electronic device, and wherein the IC may be located in a nearby non-display region of the portable electronic device.
What I understand from the patent they acquired is just the transparent layer above the scanner where your finger touches.

    I could be wrong.

I always figured it was apples fault why Samsung and the others couldn't have a good reader like them, the swipe sucks even on the note 4,s5 one sucks alot more but it's still buggy, another reason why u was considering a 6 but with so much shortcomings I doubt I would be happy, just with the looks

Many of Apples Patents are ridiculous.... but it's the only way they can stay protected..
Apple patented Tocuh ID on the iPad Air 2

An iPad may provide a fingerprint sensor 12A incorporated into the home button. Alternatively, a standalone fingerprint sensor 12B may be provided, for example within frame region 35 of cover glass 32, or within housing assembly 36.

No other tablet can have a finger print scanner in their home button nor on the front of their tablet (bezel area)
They even have the patent for using an external finger print scanner (12c)...

I figure they have similar patents on the iPhone...

The samsung home button is incapable of doing that type of scanning.

Not sure where you get that from in bold.

This is what I got. The important parts are highlighted in the article.

One of Apple's latest inventions relate to integrating touch circuitry into an LED display pixel stackup of a touch screen device.
    And this is impressive.

Gosh and the title of the article is "Apple Invents In-Cell for OLED Displays & Touch ID for iPad"

That is a patent application. And cant be used against any manufacturer who was using Finger print scanners before the application.

The patent doesn't state where in can and cannot go or should or should not. (Unless my reading fails today lol). it states how it is used and how it is made.

Just like the slide to unlock patent. Was easily worked around and new better came to unlock a screen.

EDIT: BTW samsung already has a tablet out with Finger print scanner.

Apple patented Slide to unlock showing the text 'Slide to unlock' and sliding to the right..
I think it was the Galaxy S that copied it out right and they got sued.. I don't quite remember..

Alls you have to do is remove 'Slide to Unlock" and make it so you can slide in any direction.

The patent slide to unlock was including the text and sliding the object straight across. Horizontal if I believe.

Samsung got sued because they are the biggest threat. Everyone else who was doing changed it right after.

Remove slide to unlock, make it so you can do it at any point on the screen and in any direction.

I am kind a happy though lol the slide to unlock is dull and bland.
