The Government of Jamaica in collaboration with the World Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank, the OECS Secretariat, the Government of Canada, Jamaican Private Sector ICT companies and other International Development partners will sponsor Digital Jam 3.0 “Caribbean edition”.
Digital Jam 3.0 will feature an App Contest open for participation to all citizens of Caribbean Nations. The competition aims to bring together the best young mobile developers in the Caribbean and connect them to commercial partnering, resources and mentoring.
Participating teams will submit an initial concept for the app. Best concepts will be selected to continue preparation of the app being developed. Finalists will be invited to pitch at Digital Jam 3.0 on March 1-2 in Kingston, Jamaica.
The competition will be divided into three categories as follows:
“Pioneers of the Caribbean”: An ‘open competition’ with problem and solutions self-defined by Developers;
“Game changers”: An open competition focused on the developing digital games;
“Stunning beginners”: Competition for non-specialists/new developers using open-access software
(Microsoft’s Apps Studio, which can be accessed at http://apps.windowsstore.com/)
Entries for the competition should be submitted for iOS, Windows Phone, Android, Blackberry, or any other platform for mobile (phones, tablets, and wearables). Apps that work on tablets are also eligible for the competition.
