Angry iPhone 3G refuses to join any WiFi. I'm now out of options!

It detects all/any WiFi, not a signal problem.

    I've tried the following FWs...
    3.1.3 / 05.12.01
    4.1.0 / 05.14.02
    4.2.1 / 05.12.01

Played with different security & channel settings on the router but...
They say i'm an outKast because...,
i just like doing things different!

I'm a Hustla no doubt, but i don't hustle people!

This one beats me. Check other online forums if u see anybody with similar issue. Maybe a hardware issue still even tho it can detect wireless networks.

I did check and it seems to be a widespread problem,
some ppl were lucky to simple reset iPhone network settings or turn the router-on/off.

    But no luck.

Was hoping a local user found a fix

some routers are not friendly with iphones or ipads, i had this issue when i tried to use my iphone to connect to a nextel router, no matter what i did i could not get it to connect and browse, but after switching to a dlink router the phone works like a charm, so i would suggest you trying other routers before ruling out the phone.

Some of them require a reflow of two chips on the board from what I've heard.

    See if that helps.

I used to have a problem with my iPhone 3G with a Nexxt Router but wen i checked the Nexxt's website they had a firmware update and in the release notes it said the firmware fixes problems with apple devices browsing.

Maybe its the same for you. But then again u say its happens to more than one wireless networks that uve tried. Maybe a firmware update of your router might fix the problem, its worth a shot.

EDIT: Keep in mind tho that problems during a firmware updates can cause your router to not even turn on again. Make sure u do it properly and do not turn of the power while its being updated.

Are you tried and are having this problem with several WiFi routers? Have you tried 2.4GHz bands only? Tried with no security settings on router? (temporarily of course)

Meaning ensure you have a UPS or pray that JPS is nice to you.

The reflow is necessary if its NOT able to detect WiFi or the WiFi switch is disabled.
I've repaired a few of these.

BTW - My iPhone 2G works on the same WiFi routers!

    Tried with Linksys & Nexxt

Linksys was mine so i played with various Security combo settings, transmitting channels, B only, B & G, G only, etc
