Connecting to GPRS using bluetooth on Digicel
How to connect to GPRS using bluetooth
Been trying to find out how to use the GPRS signal offered by Digicel Jamaica to connect my iPAQ to the Internet through bluetooth and my SE T610.
I found out this much from my research and social engineering.
"Digcel's offers a DigiData as a service to post paid customers at a cost. GPRS is free for now, but some sorry sap is paying for it on a monthly basis assuming people are actually using the service."

You can setup your bluetooth enabled phone to be a bluetooth modem for your iPAQ (or any other Handheld device using Pocket PC as it's OS). I have not tried this with anyother device running PALM OS.
Connecting...
Power on the PDA
Select the START button
Tap Settings
Tap Connections
Tap the Connections icon
Tap New...
Enter a connection Name (for example, Mobile web)
From the pull-down menu select Generic IR Modem for infrared, Hayes compatible modem on COM1: for cable/data card or Bluetooth modem for a Bluetooth connection
Set the Baud Rate at 57600
Tap the ADVANCED button
Select the Port Settings tab and check the following settings:
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: Hardware
Select the TCP/IP tab and check the following settings:
No options should be checked other than Use Server Assigned IP Address
Select the Name Servers tab and check the following settings:
Select Use specific server addresses
Insert the DNS IP address as 193.113.200.200 (not sure bout this)
Insert the alt-DNS IP address as 193.113.200.201 (not sure bout this)
Leave the WINS and Alt WINS addresses BLANK
Select OK
Select NEXT
Enter the following dial-up number dependant on handset, and leave all other fields blank:
*99# (Motorola, Nokia)
*99***CID# (Ericsson, Siemens) (the CID is the number identifying the data profile to be used to connect) ... I use *99***1# for my dialing sequence.
Select NEXT
Un-tick: Wait for dial tone before dialling
Tick: Cancel if not connected within 120 seconds
Leave the other boxes empty
-------------
Then try and connect using that connection you just created.
So far I have been getting an user error so I know it is going through. THe DNS I'm not so sure about as yet.
If I can get this to work then we really need not pay for this service to use on the PDA, being that we aren't paying for it on the phone.

Ok here goes, but first i am assuming that ur account has been enabled for gprs. (If not call 100, then 3, then 2, then 0) P.S. u might have to hold for a while.
Ok now to the info u have to put in the settings:
Firstly scroll to Web sessions, then press the menu button, then click on new.
Name it anything u like,
The Home page is http://wapdigicel.com
The wap ip is 172.016.007.012
Username is Wapuser
Pasword is wap03jam
Gprs apn is wap.digiceljamaica.com
Enter same User name and password as above
P.S. I changed my speed to 14400 bps
After ur done entering the data, set the web session u created to be the Default.
If u did all those correctly u should be fine, if it doesnt work simply restart the phone and try again. I had to restart my phone.
Hope this helps u
[/quote]
I followed further instruction that <<MiTcHiE>> had posted in an earlier thread I got as far as getting a Post Dial Terminal which came up with a NO CARRIER signal after a few minutes.

Re:Connecting to GPRS using bluetooth on Digicel
I got my iPAQ to connect to the GPRS by using the T610 as a bluetooth modem.
But I am not able to browse, I think the DNS is wrong.

Re:Connecting to GPRS using bluetooth on Digicel
I never stopped until IGODIT, only a few minutes ago I was complaining to <<Mitchie>> that the Digicel Tech Support personnels are all manners and no help.
Well today they proved me wrong. Here is a full instruction on setting up your T610 and your iPAQ, please remember this is via blueteet, sorry bluetooth.
Firstly you will need a partnership setup between your iPAQ and your T610 (or whatever phone).
Then you need to setup a new account, for the T610 here are the instructions:
Main Menu screen, select Connect
Scrolled down to Data Comm.
Select Data Accounts
Select New Account
Account type is GPRS Data
The name of the account Mobile Web, actually can call it whatever you wish.
APN: web.digiceljamaica.com
User ID: wapuser
Password: wap03jam
Save
Select the new account you just created by selecting it please note the CID number should look somehting like this CID=1
I own the iPAQ h5555, proud of it right now battling with HP to give me NEVO, but that's another post.
On the iPAQ Click on Start, Settings and the tab Connections
Then click on the connections icon, for the h5555 with Pocket PC 2003 (Windows mobile) it's slightly different interface that the regular but youw ill find what you need.
Under My ISP select Add a new modem connection
Enter a name for the connection: Mobile web
Select a modem: Bluetooth Dialup Modem
Next
The number you are entering for the T610 is as follows, other manuafactures use different dialing sequences.
*99***CID# (mine is *99***3#)
So it's asterix 99 asterix, asterix, asterix, the CID number for the account I created, pound sign
I did that because some of you just dumb, and if you take offence to that then you know it's you I'm talking. ;D
Then click Next
Enter the username and password as you did for the account on the phone, if you don't remember it's wapuser for the username and wap03jam for the password.
Then Finish.
There you go, now connect and I'll see you online. If you need any help you can reach me at 315-iwja and I'll charge you a fee.

Had to do it over the phone blindly, then I found this...
