The last I checked Edna was offering some certificate courses at various levels for $12,000.00 a pop...I know of another place that Trained a friend of mine but not sure of the name, they're located up by UTECH. I'll find out and get back to you...or you can check out New Horizions, not sure of the cost but some ppl on my church's visuals team did a short course there...

first thing i would advise is to learn to draw if they cant already.
all types of graphic work requires a good perspective eye.

Not really...it depends on what type of graphic art you’re interested in. 2D or 3D. 2D based stuff would be more suited for advertising jobs, publishing jobs etc. 3D based graphic design would be more suited for animation.

I’m from mobay and the only place I know that really officially teaches graphic design is CIT, and I don’t think its’ that in depth. You may be looking for a course in Multimedia design.

All the people I know who did this course did it abroad. They got in-depth training almost all adobe programs, and the finer points of advertising. There are a few schools abroad that have online courses in Multimedia design as well as 3D animation. Westwood collage is one.

BTW the reason I say not really to deakie comment is that when I do 3D animation...I am no way close to being any type of artiest, and 3D animation does'nt really require that you know how to draw per say, I mean it would be nice to scetch your ideas down but thats about all you need when it comes to drawing.

I would think it relative...the truth is that you should at least have a GOOD UNDERSTANDING BOUT THE BASICS of ART...colours, shapes etc...and I would strongly reocommend that a DESIRE to get involved in such a field and a PASSION for the art exists...coz trus me I've seen work from ppl who just do it Graphics as a hobby and try and mek some money from it...when it's ot really a passion and they just there same way...like any Techie...the individual driven by their desire will Research, Practice and develop a discipline in order to better the skills...

I would neva suggest some-one doing a job JUST coz of the Money, but there must be a desire, something they enjoy...not saying that the young lady who want to do the courses have no desire...I'm just saying...but Malloc-X...as soon as I get additional info I'll holla at ya!!!

personally i don't think you have to know how to draw (pencil to paper) to do some types of graphics designing

I am sure there are other people like me with a "drawing defficiency"..lol...but I consider myself as design minded and i have a good understanding of colours, textures, shapes, shadows etc

so it depends on the type of graphic designing you want to go into.

Agree with you 1000% (thats not a typo)

I got into 3d animation as a hobby, and right now im not seeing my self doing it full time. The money is there mind u...i hear some contracts go for 1/2 a mil up to 2 mil. But I am more focused on IT than CG

I'd recommend checking out Edna Manley. I know one of the instructors there, and he is very very good.
