ok i have had my system run over a year, but what killed was - bad memory, burnt board(too much overclockin) but for the most it been hardware and not software that killed my installation life times.

Yeah its pretty much the same for me. I used to reinstall windows (and linux) my main PC every month back in the day because I used to install and test every software that I came across which led to a lot of system instability. However since I built a test machine to do my little experiments I have not had a reason to reinstall windows on my main PCs, its pretty stable when you just leave it be.
