They have roll over talk and data now for both prepaid and postpaid. That's good....

I guess.... Their campaigns are nice though... They worked with the same Ad agency that came up with the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World" ads. So they're coming with some high grade stuff (and it shows). They also have Digicel Money (which hasn't been announced yet) but it's sure to make Quisk, GK MPay and all the mobile wallet solutions uneasy. Check it out at www.digicel.money
Are they expanding the Network across Montego Bay?. Or this location had LTE coverage since launch date last year?. Speed looks great, really hope they plan to expand the coverage across the country. LTE is a seven year old technology, LTE-A and 5G networks are comming in the next three years. And should be fully commercial, within five years after 2020 in most developed countries.
As usual, Jamaica will be way behind. It took this long for our carriers to bring LTE to Jamaica, so if and when they roll out the service nationwide. The have to realize a Massive Return on Investments, and big growths in data use and subscriptions, to justify 5G deployment.

Thing I like about Digicel LTE is that it's not throttled at all.... Here's the 50/10 limit on FLOW in action in Montego Bay as well (still in testing so I got switched down to 3G the moment the test finished).
The network looks to be in use quite a bit.... The phone almost maxes the theoretical uplink speed so I'm guessing the roamers (likely Sprint and T-Mobile customers) are on the network too.

Just noticing some things appearing on Digicel's 4G network... Digicel has added 2 layers of 1900 MHz HSPA+ (UARFCN 9873 & 9898). I'm seeing this being live in Ocho Rios. Digicel seems to have taken inspiration from the other guys and done DC-HSDPA on 1900 MHz... While this is great for 3G capacity, where is the LTE deployment? We've had no expansion since June 2016 and in 2 months time the competiton will have lit up LTE in most of Jamaica's population centres.
Are we back to stagnation???
Markets that have moved on to bigger and better data networks like El Salvador, Panama, Aruba, Trinidad, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana and Anguilla are STILL being serviced by HSPA+ (or worse 3G+ a.k.a. HSDPA 14.4 Mbit/s in the case of the French Antilles). Digicel has given Q1 2018 as the tentative launch dates for LTE in Panama (4 years overdue) and the French Antilles (which is already served by Orange & SFR's lightning fast LTE-A networks), dates which by then networks like FLOW Antigua will be offering Gigabit LTE (literal 1 Gbit/s over mobile data), a Digicel market that hasn't seen any attention since deployment in 2012. I'm hoping that they'll give at least a bit of competition in mobile and PLEASE leave 3G alone. It's so bad that AT&T and Verizon have gone as far as to establishing exclusive LTE roaming agreements with FLOW Jamaica (giving FLOW exclusivity with a total of 208 million subscribers with high data appetites, meaning plenty $$$ for Liberty Global) and left Digicel to Sprint & T-Mobile. Has Digicel realized that the game's changed??? Have they realized that sleeping giants are now agile and nimble???

Never ever count out Digicel. You know they will never just roll over and die..
Well this is very good news for Flow. They will make more profits and continue to grow subscriber's. On the other hand, it is very sad that a company like Digicel. Who revolutionize the local telecoms market. Is now moving at snail's pace, to expand and upgrade the networks infrastructure and technology. I don't believe they will roll over and play dead though. They have made commitments to expand LTE across Jamaica and it's 26 other Markets across the Region and the World. They are not in a good financial situation at this time, So Capex is probably low at this time. But should rebound in the months ahead.
