Hey all, I was just wondering how todays job seekers are making there resumes and cover letters?
I've seen a few in at my previous place of employment in JA, and its kinda sad to see the quality of the resumes that we got. Some people think that if they put it on a pretty paper it will make them stand out amount the others...well it would but not in a good way. What employers look for is the contents of the resume and if that is not structured correctly you can easily cause a potential job to slip by you.
when I was in high school they taught us to put your hobbies, religion, marital status, are people still doing this? What about Cover letters...are people just saying I would like to apply for the job you posted and thats it? does the cover letter and resume complement each other? or sync correctly?
Its been my experience that things like the above mention will at time get laughed at ...sorry but its true... lets here your thoughts.
I personally know that my cover letter and resume are next to perfect well in my view...every job i applied for I got a response. And I've helped quite a few persons with there resume, funny enough they had some of the above mentioned and when I asked why they have it, they just say thats how there use to doing it.
