For this type of site, I would not "buy" traffic but buy ads.

Since your site is more of a lifestyle site, they you would be better off buying ads from yahoo and msn (or both). You will have better conversion from that traffic as per the ones you would get from Google's adwords.

Mark you, you will get more hits from google but the traffic you would get through google (of which a lotwill be bots) will be bit more difficult to convert than those from yahoo et al as they are already have that mental schema.

Do you think that some of these guys could just use their botnets to hit your site on a controlled level, instead of dong a DOS attack? I think so!

i was discussing the same thing with one of my bredren last evening and we both think thats certainly possible.

No possible it is done. I have ran bots on ptc's before.

Put it this way, thumb drives and email forwards are the primary carriers of trojans. Are you not going to open your email ever again because of this or ban the use oa all thumb drives to the end of time?

No.

You just have to account for a particular percentage of your traffic being bot and convert on the rest.

As I recommended earlier, for your particular site I wouldn't necessarily buy traffic hits, but buy adspace on yahoo or msn. That is, you site would come up as a sponsored link with anyone search for the key words (meta tags) on your site.
