Famitsu Officially Declares PS3 Games Superior

Famitsu has recently concluded a test between the PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and portables to determine which system had the best games. As you may have guessed the PS3 came out on top of this experiment. The Japanese publication took the scores of over 500 games it reviewed in the previous year to see how many titles for each system recieved at least a "silver" ranking which is 30/40.

The numbers aren't terrribly surprising considering that Famitsu is a Japanese publication, and PS3 is very popular in Japan. 77 out of 103 PS3 titles scored in this range. Xbox 360 came in second place with 65 out of 97, and the Wii finished last in the consoles with 30/40. Some may find this strange that over fifty percent of the games reviewed by Famitsu recieved an award.

It would be interesting to see this done from a U.S. and U.K site as well, there's certainly a cultural divide between the Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan and it must affect review scores in some manner. It's likely that data from this side of the world would indicate otherwise, being that U.S. is where the Xbox 360 is most popular.

The Japanese are extremely xenophobic so this really isn't very surprising at all. While it's my opinion that the PS3 is better, if you want to go by stats, worldwide figures say otherwise.

sales mean... nothing. a 2/10 game sold 1 million while a 8/10 game sold 400k + recently. sales don't mean a thing

AS far as I know there are about 10 games worth purchasing on the PS3, tons of shooters on xbox360 and Mario/Zelda on the wii. Only way the ps3 could win is if there is some kinda bias going on or they talking "superior graphics".

how many games on the 360 are worth purchasing. Really think about it and I hope you aren't one of those ppl who forget that certain games are multiplatform (microsoft has a way of making it seem like multiplats are exclusives to their platform)

gears, fable, halo, alan wake. what else is there? Wii is wii.... 10 games on the ps3 seems like more than the 360 has already and almost all ps3 exclusives are quality.

@semitop the reality is most if not all multiplats are BETTER on the xbox360. So what the ps3 and wii have are its exclusives, everything else is 360. And if you are a shooter fan 360 is the way to go

How many shooter exclusives are on the 360? ps3 has the resistance games, killzone games, MGS, uncharted tps and the multiplat shooters. What are the 360 shooters? halo? gears? alan wake? Perfect dark? name another.

That point about multiplats being better on the 360 gets nowhere. You need a microscope to see the difference most ppl talk about (graphics) and gameplay wise there isnt anything significant.

If one excludes RPGs on an average which game now a days isn't just 5-8 hours long? I have ran through so many so called Next Gen console games and yet I'm wasn't able to finish some of the Mario Brother titles on the NES and or SNES and some of the Sonic titles on the Genesis. All the next gen do is improve graphics while the game play and challenge takes a nose dive.
