    Default /Roots Conference

/Roots (pronounced Slash Roots) aims at fostering a culture of knowledge creation, collaboration and sharing within the Jamaican developer and technology communities. Specifically, innovation through better application of technology, participation in global dialogues, and localisation of developments for the Jamaican context. Implicit in our aim is the creation of a community among various stakeholders within the public, private and civil sectors, as well as academia, local and abroad.

The inaugural event for this group is a developers conference at the old drama theater at UWI on February 24 and 25. We will be releasing more information soon on our website http://slashroots.org

Also you can connect with us on twitter: http://twitter.com/slash_roots
    Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Slash-...2428844?v=info

We will be hosting a developer competition where participants will be eligible to win new Android phones from Lime.

    More info to come

Your link to your website goes to the "Info" page, which doesn't have any useful information at this time (it is obviously a placeholder waiting to be updated). It is possible that most people assumed (like me) that the entire website was a placeholder waiting to be updated. So maybe most people are waiting for more information, before they express interest.

You should probably link to the "Conference" page: http://slashroots.org/node/2.

Personally, I would drop the "Info" and "Presenters" pages, until you have some information on them.

P.S. Why does the "Conference" page ask the visitor to login?

Unfortunately we have not received as much funding as hoped, so yes we will now have to charge $1000 admission, $500 for students, free for high school students. We are still seeking sponsorship though, if it works out we will try to minimise the cost as much as possible. For information on how to sponsor this event please email : info@dmitridawkins.com

Anyway more content up about the open data to be released at this event:
