    Default Trouble installing OS

I have been trying to re-install an OS on an acer 5920 laptop for a while now and it keeps freezing after a while. It freezes randomly...i have tried Windows 7, XP & Vista to no avail..formatted the hdd and all.. the os would begin to install and freeze..no response. The HDDis ok because i tried it in another machine and it worked fine, was wondering if it was the optical drive so i made a bootable usb disk and the pc froze while installing from it too
Anyone here had a similar experience? any suggestions would be welcome.

P.S I googled the issue but nothing works so far

It may be overheating or a problem with the memory. Check:

    1. Are the fans (Power Supply/System/CPU) working OK?
    2. Is the memory seated correctly?
    3. Do you have mismatched RAM? Sometimes having two sticks of different size RAM can cause conflicts.

Well it has 3 gigs of ram a 1 gig stick and a 2 gig so i have tried istalling the OS with either stick removed (i.e with the 1 gig out on one occasion and the 2 gig out on the other occasion) ..same results i checked the fans and they are working

Try booting with a live disc. This may help to rule out RAM as the potential problem.
