    Default laptop booting problem

    1 of my friends laptop dvd drive is not working and the computer wont start it is saying BOOTmgr missing, i already tried to send the windows 7 installation files to a flashdrive and press f12 and select the flash drive as booting device and it is still saying the same thing....
    should i create a windows 7 boot ISO on flash drive or wat shuould i do

    Try getting an external DVD/CD drive......in any case u are going to need 1 to fix this problem

    I DNT HAVE TO GET NO external drive, i just used a guide on the net to make a bootable usb,
    FOR ALL THOSE PPL WHO HAD MY PROBLEM, USE THIS GUIDE

    No need to get so hostile dude. Caps and all. Anyways - I would have suggested using UNETBOOTIN to create the disc.

    Or another tool from Microsoft of all people......

    those guides wouldnt work cuase the dvd drive isnt working on the laptop and i was so relieved when i found that guide so i hurried and made the post with the error of the caps on,,,it was not intentional

    ok boss here is what u need. from another machine with a working drive get wintoflash. it will read the contents of the installation disk an turn ur thumb drive into a bootable installation disk.

    can this work with an external HDD 2?

    I forgot the name - thanks for that. Was looking for it to post.

    UNETBOOTIN doesn't need an optical drive to work - just use the ISO from your PC.
