Default nVidia Will Stop Making Chipsets

Looks like there will be no more nForce on the market.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".

I dont know if this is good or bad news. if they dont license sli to amd then there will be no sli on amd motherboards with out nforce.

Its a good move on Nvidia's side though. As nforce is a failure when compared to toher chipsets.

its not a chipset issue whether or not they could have licensed sli to amd. amd certainly wasnt interested. how would that help them? anyway this is old news. nvidia is just late in making it official.

The writing was on the wall from the day AMD became their own chipset supplier with their purchase of ATI. nForce chipsets were the only quality ones back in the day compared to the ones from Via and SiS. Intel not offering a license for the iCore architecture also doomed nForce on the Intel platform.

Alas, goodbye nForce you used to be the boss and you will surely be missed. RIP.

Yes they did have a chipset before ATI but that was just basically a reference chipset and mostly only used for their server chips i.e. Opteron. If you look up past statements by AMD they specifically said they were not in the chipset business which all changed after ATI.

Amd had chipsets that were for desktops before buying ati. Ati added a good gpu to it thats all.

ATI - RS480, RS482 with SB 400/600 - They were good display chipsets... and movie playback, usb was crappy and sata performance was crappy.
