Well their biggest bet is attempting to compete worldwide, the US market is too crowded. They should also note that the worldwide smartphone adoption is different from the US:

    USA marketshare %:

    Blackberry
    iphone
    android
    webOS
    Symbian

USA daily smartphone sales in last few months:

    1. Android
    2. iphone
    3. blackberry

    Worldwide:

    Symbian
    Blackberry
    Iphone
    Android

Worldwide daily smartphone sales in last few months:

    1. symbian
    2. Android
    3. Blackberry

They will first need to kill the growth of android and symbian(yes symbian), iphone growth has leveled off and might fall a bit next year as every1 who want an iOS device will just about have one(most sales hereafter will be upgrades or simple null growth). Symbian is selling over 300,000 a day, android 200,000 in the last estimates, the others have pretty much fallen off(iOS and BB) in the last few months. They will need to stop these growths if they hope to gain anything.

Funny but I think they might have shot themselves with this one.

^^ When stating figures you need to provide your source unless you gathered it yourself.

Of course, they couldn't even conceive trying to put Android in the mix. They know it's here to stay and they're acknowledging it .
