Angry To Quit Or Not To Quit

TO QUIT OR NOT TO QUIT that is the question?

Lets just say your working for a company for about a year and half as a temporary staff (Intranet Consultant). Work very hard even got employee of the month about 6 months back. Your Company is a well known credit union who keeps extending your contract and you still dont get no benifits and you are under paid and because they urgently need a Loan calculator for there website they going extend your contract again for 2 Weeks so you can design it then after that its Bye Bye.

    Contract ends on Monday

Would you take it or leave it

I would gwaan get wat i can get out of the company now; Become a very valuable employee based on my inside knowledge of the company. That way it would be hard for them to let me go.

I agree with kev, but there are some companies that will continue to do this just so that they can use you as their lacky. What I would do is wait till a year has passed and have a chat with either your supervisor or the human resource manager about your future with the organisation, if you want to stay there.

Fact: its a dog eat dog world, but not every dog yard stay the same.
you have some factors to consider. are you supporting a family? do you have loans repaying (specifically with your employers, since they would most likely accelerate demands for repayment if you left) or do you have a cushion in the form of family, savings or alternative income.
Fact: altho it makes day to day sense to stay where the current paycheck is, the idea of job security has pretty much become myth.
no one is sacred in todays corporate world, and the contractors are borderliners. the thing for you to do is realistically assess your options for getting a replacement paycheck. or three. if you have no options, get some. until then, stay put til dem fire you.
the question you asked was, "would you stay under those conditions." dude, dont know what your conditions are... you talkin bout benefits, but i dont know if, like some people i know, you *****in bout no benefits yet takin home 150k a month. i have friends who been *****in for years bout no benefits, but know in dem heart dem naa get nothing like that outta street, so dem stick.

in short, assess your situation and act accordingly.
    jope i helped.

Careful...You might just be chuckin' outta the frying pan and go land b@lls-first into the fire!!!

IMO, if you have another guaranteed source of income--then get to stepping! But if you don't, then just stick it out until something better comes along...You can bone your boss' daughter in the meantime to alleviate any tension

man, jobs are ridiculously hard to find, keep that job and if something comes up, make the move. but unless you have something to go to, keep what you got.

Just one thing to consider .... are they going to fire you or state that your services are no longer needed. Yes there is a difference as a "fired" is not a good reference for future employment so if thats the case I would first them and just resign. But in anycase try ur negotiation skills. These contract options are total bull**** (2 weeks contract) come on man what is that.

You should schedule a meeting and have a serious talk with someone who has a say in the staff department (HR).
