    Default SQL Server

All long story short in a bind need to learn SQL server 2008 in a weekend to setup a DB server. Note i have never used this before in my life and i am also required to procure the software, whoever can, please answer me the following questions.

    1. Being as the setup will be Webserver----->Enterprise Software -------> SQL Server 2k8 Do i need to buy extra CALS or will the Enterprise Software Service act as the only Client and will the 5 CALS provided suffice?

    2. Whats the learning curve for SQL 2k8 i have some videos that im watching while typing this, is it actually possible to learn and implement this over the weekend.

    3. Anything else i need to know please add.

It depends on your background and experience with SQL and servers on a whole but, it's not really hard to implement.

By watching some CBT videos. TrainSignal is a good source for learning stuff quickly.

I would be very impressed if you could learn all of this in a weekend. I know I could not do it.

    1. Being as the setup will be Webserver----->Enterprise Software -------> SQL Server 2k8 Do i need to buy extra CALS or will the Enterprise Software Service act as the only Client and will the 5 CALS provided suffice?
I would expect the Enterprise Software to have some installation documentation. This would normally include a section on the installation and configuration of SQL Server. At the very least, it should tell you what collation to use.

is it actually possible to learn and implement this over the weekend.
I don't think so. I guess you could get a basic installation done. But you will need some level of expertise to manage it over time.

That is just me. Perhaps you learn faster than I do.

The thing is i wont be running any queries on the Database or anything of the sort, the software running on top of SQL server will be responsible for that. I am halfway through the CBT nuggets videos for SQL 2008 and so far it doesnt seem all that difficult. But i will let you guys know how it turns out

Remember to turn off the C2 Audit Tracing.... that if you do not need it, this will generate trace audit files on the root drive of the server. and will continue to do that until you run out of space....
