To me, that's overthinking the game. I don't do any read up, just start plsying and add points on the go. Even in sro (all but two of my builds sucked - ecsro sosun archer/jsro sosun spearnuker)
    Too much strategizing.

Torchlights website is one place to start: http://torchlight.wikia.com/wiki/Torchlight_Wiki
I didn't read up on anything either. Just jumped into the game and chose skills based on their description.

I read the beta stops at lvl 21.
Also read that the beta will end on Thursday, which was extended from Tuesday.
Also the skill trees in the game will be changed by time the game is released. So it's not final.

If I wasn't able to change the points I put into skills later on, I would also read up on what works best for the char I am playing. Don't want to waste time putting points into an unwanted skill.

But luckily, they have a respec option in town so you can reset your skills. So feel free to play around with whatever skills you like best.

Yeah I did notice that, I forgot how much it costs though. Good news on the extension...kinda got lost in answering msgs again.
Exactly why I turned the option off here.
Should be on in an hour or so though.

Soooo beta ended 2 months ago. They have been busy going to some gaming conventions and fixing bugs. They posted their latest update on where they are in terms of the game here: http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=30225

It's a long read tho. But basically, they say they have fixed all the bugs found during beta, added in all the extra features and such they planned to put in after the beta and redid the skill sets. Now they are just polishing the levels and after that, hopefully, should be all done.
