VisualStudio .NET - help plz

so I need to do some web dev and after beginning to learn PHP I'm told that my peeps won't support it... this is for work.. and that I have to use an ms solution.... in comes visualstudio .NET

now.. i REALLY don't like having to use this .. especially as a learning experience.. however it's what I got to work with..

so.. anyone out there with some good referrences.. books...???

what do you mean they won't support it. Are they saying they can't work with you if you don't use a .NET based solution?

they've been saying "they're setting up a box" for the past 6 months... remember now... this isn't my own thing.. but my "official" job

That's like the sadest thing I've ever heard. :-[ well best you start getting familiar with the MSDN library. When it comes to microsoft apps it's your best friend.

Also a few sample applications come with the .NET thing. Try to get them running and figure out how they are made. Add your own stuff to it as well . This should get you off to a running start.

*** don't quote me on this, but I hear that there is talk about moving platfroms from Windows to Unix for the webserver... seems like M$ has taken a big enough bite outta somebody pocket! ****
