    Default Bloatware Now Targeting Androids

Android-based smartphones are falling victim to something that has plagued PC users for years: bloatware.

Android phones are being pre-loaded with trial software and apps that can’t be deleted off the device by the user. These apps touting mobile TV, football games, location-based search and games are the new face of bloatware, also known as crapware or craplets in the PC world. The term is shorthand for non-essential software or media files bundled with a device in a bid to boost revenue and ostensibly give consumers a chance to try new services.

I guess it would happen sooner or later, but crapware is back; only on another device. Worse they're installing it so you MUST root your device to get rid of it ! These carriers are so desperate to make money that they don't even care about customer experience anymore ...

Yeah Vodafone in the UK has messed over its HTC Desire owners big time with this issue, they released an OTA update that was loaded with crapware, unsuspecting owners thinking that this was the Froyo update downloaded this without sufficient scrutiny and the s**t hit the fan,

To add insult to injury this crapware has made the handset laggy and unstable, the apps are not removable and use up precious storage space and updates only over mobile data.

The outcry has been spectacular and has made its way into mainstream media, voda is stonewalling and trying to ride it out, i am resolved to buying out my voda contract if this does not get rolled back, so we watch and see what develops..

as i am kinda dumb re the more technical aspects of phone modding i might bring it come a yard and give a techie it to root and give it to the wifey...............

Root and flash and free yourself from tyranny, it is now not illegal to flash ur phone in the states nor will it void your warranty in some cases

The only phone I'm not walking near when it comes to rooting are the Motorola Droids. Currently there's just too much controversy surrounding it that if you try to root, it'll brick itself. Hence, I'm staying far from anything Moto. Full stop!
