Mine set to friends of friends. But I think my details can be still seen tho. Not showing anything that I wouldn't want the public to know still. Always monitor my security settings like a hawk.

whoohoo, so someone possibly got my name and picture...the only thing that is public on my FB profile, not extremely impressive considering the information is public. I dont know why everyone hates on facebook, the telephone book will give you the address and phone numbers of a lot of people and searching public records will give even more.

I don't think its the end results Techie I think its the principle because its alleged that FB and Google sells people information if it was so open, free and easily accessed as you state it wouldn't the Federal Government already have had it in their databases?

The federal Government probably knows more about me than I know myself. There is a lot of information that is available to the general public some of which includes: court cases, tickets, marriage licenses, mortgage information, and personal and property taxes, as a bonus most of this info comes wrapped with the person's name and address all for free. Now for a fee, the government will sell even more detailed records (at least in the US).

Google and FB makes it easier to get personal information (at least from those who post every detail on the web) and it is free... they also make social engineering a lot easier.

only idiots use facebook. the terms and even basic functions are at the least suspect!!!

asking me to input my email addy and password so that it can automatically add my friends? what am a a F-ing moron.

I am not that desperate to keep in touch to the point where i would part with so much of my private info.

dont even mention the F-ing photos. Oh lord.

Whoever is exposed deserves it and a few more rounds of it.
    THANK GOD

Today marks the end of the 2 week period in which I submitted the request to have my account deleted (not disabled).
I'm yet to see a confirmation from Facebook explicitly stating that this has been done.

Months ago, I was told by one of their online customer support representatives that I have to manually delete every entry that I posted (including automated entries made by applications such as Mafia Wars and FarmVille), before she could get the go ahead and delete my account.

She clearly didn't understand the string of Jamaican bad words I used immediately after, so she sent me a URL that (once clicked) paced me in a queue to wait exactly 14 days (without signing in to my account) before my account would automatically be deleted.

I got pissed on day 3 when the Facebook appication on my iPhone automatically signed in to gather status updates (which of course started the 2 week countdown from scratch). After deleting that application and all other related apps on both my iPhone and BB with all the bookmarks, I'm finally on day 14 anticipating a confirmation from Facebook confirming that this craziness is now over.

How do you go about deleting your account? I dont want it disabled, I want it deleted. Forever.

    edit

never mind, I found how to do it. I feel much better now. I do not want a facebook account at all. neither deactivated or anything. I want it GONE!

I hope you guys realise that google scans your emails and sells the contents to people, keywords that is...
