Depending on the type of phone...in many cases I don't agree its better to sell the phone...(if its even broken sell it for parts on ebay and then buy real camera)

I just purchased a full set of security cameras for my house...really cheap...

yeah i think this works better, if u just fooling around then the phone thing will do. i actually tried the phone thing some time ago........ even used webcam with an old laptop. thee should be a thread somewhere here regarding that one....
