Default Need some info on android

As the title states I need some aditional info on android. I need some information on the evolution of the platform and how this corresponds with the hardware; processor demand, memory footprint and the amount of internal drive memory needed.
    questions:

    1. How much more ram did each new OS version need compared to the previous?

    2. What is the demand on processor between each iteration i.e. does you device seem to struggle more doing tasks on newer OS versions?

    3. How much internal NAND memory does each newer OS need? Did they require more?

    4. How does top end phones like the nexus 1 handles heavy multitasking i.e. Pc style browsing(6-10 tabs open), music player left running, file manager open, a video player in the background, several IM apps in the background.

I need this info, thanks in advance.

Well i have a Magic and im running 2.1 and it can run 2.2 so ram matters but for right now not so much unless you have like a G1 which has just a tiny amount of ram

    2. What is the demand on processor between each iteration i.e. does you device seem to struggle more doing tasks on newer OS versions?

Not really I know in 2.1 it will basically manage the allocation of resources so if u have something running in the background it will be using zero resources

    3. How much internal NAND memory does each newer OS need? Did they require more?

i'm sure they do but seeing as how almost everyone runs a custom rom then its really not an issue

    4. How does top end phones like the nexus 1 handles heavy multitasking i.e. Pc style browsing(6-10 tabs open), music player left running, file manager open, a video player in the background, several IM apps in the background.

My magic handles all those things quite well i sometimes lose track of open webpages accross my various apps but my phone never seems to slow down, youtube is beautiful and i always have several apps running at any given time

I need this info, thanks in advance.

Well thanks for the info it is needed for a project that you guys will hear about late this year ... could you give me some units though on ram and nand requirements?

As for the revolution: I will get an android in a few weeks so I will make my assessment then .
iOs and winmo is already off my list as a symbian replacement, lets see what droid can do.

You better Virus lol. I don't care what's out there, the Nexus is the most versatile Android device ever. Right now I'm running the htc desire 2.2 rom on my nexus one and its smooth as hell! There are a myriad of roms I can run from different devices and they run smoothly, no other, android device can boast that. Like it seems Motorola will be locking their bootloader from now on so custom roms will be a no go on their devices which sucks.

    Long live the N1!!!

But what about the captivate? You can flash any update.zip from recovery on it, so its as versatile as the N1. Android has a pretty nice aftermarket tho.
