    Default need help to create a live cd print server

    in house we have fedora running as a print server on a live cd
    i wanna try another distro i see puppl which is light weight and i like it also there is damn small linux and knoppix am trying to keep it very light weight because i will be using old low end machines so hence my choice of distros but if i have to use a bit heavier one then i just have to

    what is the reason for running the OS live as the print server instead of installing it.

    am running on ancient days pc and wen it pop dung jus switch to a next pc dont wanna be limited by hard drive if it crash and no it doesnt have a usb port jus using wat i have

    ok i get u..but how often do these old machines give way? isnt it a case where each time that machine ends up powering of u have to install samba and upload the config file each time, and also configuring static ips? well check ma earlier post where i posted a link to a list of livecds here:

    oh so u want to take a live distro and edit it so that it loads ur config for the print server?

    Floppy based Linux routers were popular a few years ago. Freesco is one that can work as a print server. Not exactly what you have asked for but it should give you the desired result.

    I have never used it but I have read about it a few times.

    You might be able to find documentation on how to run it from a cdrom.

    This maybe exactly what ur looking for
    Remastersys is very handy application that allows you to clone and backup your Linux distribution, including root, home, other partitions, and all personal, custom configuration to a fully deployable, bootable live CD.

    Puppy Linux combined with remastersys sounds like a great choice.

    gonna try it had to put in pause the network printer dead fuser is like 40k new or 20k refurb and new printer is 200k plus am using a 5si
