Default Settlement in software piracy case

A COMPUTER software engineer, who has suffered financial losses from piracy of his computer software programmes, says he feels cheated after working so hard to develop the product.

Douglas DaCosta said last week that it was only by chance that he went to a used-car dealer to sell a software programme and discovered that the car dealer was using his software system.

Maybe the one company had to compensate him for everything.........including emotional anguish
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".

This aint ur typical piracy tho is it?

He sub-sequently discovered that the auto-parts proprietor had purchased the software from Arthur Earl James, a former employer of Doss Ltd.
Likely someone in the company or close was selling the softy without him gettingi a cut. The actual users still had to buy it.

yeah semi, not the piracy we accustomed to...... i wonder how the court decided on the compensation? the users bought it, so i suppose they thought they were in the safe zone cos the guy was working for the compnay. unless is a backdoor deal where him get a discount and life time activation. something of the sort!

This James guy.... I hope he gets locked up in a Jamaican prison.
I work closely with another company that operates from Canada and practically 90% of pharmacies here in Jamaica that was visited had "The James Software" already running.
Everyone complained about the lack of support from Mr. James... meh how could he support it?
He didn't write it. Theifing bastard.
