Nero should have the option to make a bootable CD.

That's from an older version, but the new one should not be much different. Just get one of the bootable diskette images from bootdisk.com, then use Nero to make a bootable CD and point to the floppy drive as the source. Then you add the image files to flash the BIOS to the compilation after. From there, you just boot the machine with the CD and then run the files. Ensure you've extracted them first, and if they're in folders/directories, make sure the names are short (8 characters) and easy for you to get into. From there, just get to the prompt after booting (automatically) and then run the commands to flash the BIOS.
Ensure you're on UPS or something, because flashing and power cut are not friends. Unless your board have a BIOS recovery, it not going work out.

Download HWM BlackBox or SIW or something and run it on Windows to check your board information.

Or just look on the board and find the make/model and post it. Then just get the update from the site.
Is a Gateway 5200XL?

One of those may help. But use the programs I suggested first and then you can make the decision from there. You could also check on the board physically to ensure that you have the right thing. Another thing you could do is use the PAUSE/BREAK button during the memory test section of booting so you could see the BIOS information. Some models will also allow you to see the BIOS information in the setup utility (press DEL or F2 or something).
Post back your results and we can make a decision from there.
