Say Vista but same Procedure for Win 7 used this method many times never failed.

just curious in this day of virtualisation ... why would u wanna dual boot ...

Maybe some of us are running hardware specs that just can't handle much virtualization ...

This woulda helped a lot yes, but it juss seem reinstalling just Windows 7 would be easier and faster, which is what I did since I didn't really need to do much backing up.
