I'll try it out on my mom's computer, not mine, and see how it goes.

Useless under win 7. so back to AVG. uses like 200mb of mem (ram = over 100meg + a huge amount of virtual mem) hangs the system when i connect to the Internet.

When the win7 version comes out i'll try it again.
    THANK GOD

Sounds like something is up with your system yow. There is no other separate version for windows 7. The only version they have is for xp, vista and windows 7.

The tests these guys did tho was on a XP Pro system and not on Windows 7.

I couldnt get it from Microsoft's website as i said b4 but i found it on my trusty site filehippo.com and they had 3 versions, one for xp and 2 for vista, 32 bit + 64 bit. I used the vista 32 bit and installed in in vista sp2 compatibility mode.
    THANK GOD

    How come? http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Anyways, the same file for Vista is the same file they have available for Windows 7.

Here are the links to the Vista/Windows 7 version from MS site.

    64-bit

See if they work for you. I'll remove the links when you have tried (or not try).

I still cant access the site from the first link (I'll try another ISP later) but that is the exact file I had used.

The app starts up at over 200MB and eventually throttles to ~50MB. thats not an issue for me but freezing up the pc is unacceptable.
    THANK GOD

I'm not surprised. Try, try, try again seems to be working.

I am running it on Win 7 Professional. It is currently using 1 meg of RAM. been watching it for the past 2 hours or so, memory usage never changes.
