You won't be able to work effectively over a GPRS connection. You need to get something faster. Have you downloaded the oDesk Team app yet? The first test you should be taking is the oDesk Readiness Test (needed to be considered for ANY job) and some of the questions are based on using that app, and some of their terms and conditions too, so you gotta read the FAQ, etc. Completed about six of the tests myself . But I'm in college now, so I haven't really gotten the time to do any of the jobs (refused alot of offers). Yet...

Readiness is sooooo easy. Whereever you see all of the above that is the option to choose the rest you have to figure out.

Odesk works. I'm making on average at least 20g more than I was making at my last permanent job. You have to put in the work though, competition tight, you have to show an employer that you are better suited to do his/her job better than your peers. Summer 2010 mi start put in the work, applying for jobs daily, getting rejected daily but persevering and not quitting. Eventually I found a dream job that pays well and is good consistent work.

What are you Rookie? A programmer, web dev or graphics artist? Because those seem to be the most lucrative jobs on the site.

I created my account a few weeks ago to see what could come my. Have done the readiness test, XP (top 20 percentile ) and network concepts. within a couple days of signing up i got invited for a technical customer support manager but had to turn it down cause i have no managerial training what so ever. The competition is stiff i applied for 4 jobs so far and declined on 2 of them already.

@Taneipoo i'm not a write unless i can develop that skill in a short time i'll browse all the categories and see if there is anything that i can learn quickly.

I've gotten offers that I had to turn down because I have no managerial, etc knowledge/experience. I've also applied for and gotten jobs that I had to end for various reasons. Odesk does work. Wish I can find enough spare time during school to do at least a couple jobs, because I seriously need some funds.
