thanks for the info however it failed to mention wimax 802.16m which offers speed up to a max of 100mbps. avg at around 20mbps.
Clearwire is the same network that is working with digicel to set up wimax here.
The main problem with hspa is that it pushes data in 'short burst of packets' so its often inconsistent and irregular. Wimax 4g on the otherhand offer true wireless broadband experience that is capable of holding much more workload.
This enables things that require a constant data speed eg dvb-t/dvb-h to work efficiently.

most of what you said is correct. except dvb-t/h works on an independent network different from cellular network. Those are broadcast standards

wow good read and kalel once again im impressed as to how much u know lol
Really? I thought they mentioned that ZTE won the contract to set up WiMax for their residential service.
http://www.digiceljamaica.com/en/abo...-wimax-partnerDigicel has appointed China’s ZTE Corp. as its second WiMAX vendor to provide a full turn-key solution for phase one of its 2.5GHz Mobile WiMAX solution.
Then again, Clearwire uses ZTE in their markets in Spain so who knows maybe there is some form of partnership, doubt it though.
Ok to clarify. Digicel's talk with clearwire actually has to do with liscencing of some patents relating to wimax operations.
Zte is the company that will set it up across the island.

Device: Blackberry Bold 9700
@ kalel, don't let these telecoms companies talk crap to the jamaican population... wimax or lte is mobile broadband as you said...dvb/h is not broadband...its broadcast just like how a tv picks up signal..there is a dvb/h turner inside the phone and receives the signal...wimax and LTE is IP based which ties back into the internet....digicel was partnering with a company to do dvb-t/h but digicel backed out for whatever reason, now they're trying to take the idea and run with it but its not going to work the way they want...but loook out, something big is coming to JA in the christmas time
