    Default Service books?

If I were to get a 9700 now would it work or would I have to wait for Claro/ Lime to start supporting them before I got register for BIS?

If you get it BRANDED, then our local service providers WILL NOT have any service books for you to use the extra features (such as Visual Voicemail, Audio Postcard, or UMA calling).

I'll probably end up getting the AT&T version, can I just replace the AT&T OS with a generic OS?

And I'm fine with the VVM, GPS, etc now working, but BBM and verything else available on the current supported models like the 9000 will work right?

Yes, you can replace the OS with a generic one.
I'm still trying to to 'debrand' my T-Mobile Gemini, but I'm waiting for Barrettrs to post a solution.

BBM and all the other features will work without problems.
However, I must warn you about being spammed with (flash)SMS from our providers (such as LIME) as the phone tries to provision features such as VVM which they don't have the service books for. These messages usually state something such as 'invalid request', 'check syntax of request' etc, right after a battery pull or reset.

They fill your inbox to the point that I get too lazy to keep clearing them out.

It would work out of the box once the pin is free and the OS is replaced with a generic one then you should be good as RIM is a service that is available on a server based system that is supported through network carriers so it really doesn't matter where you're located once your service is paid for and your Blackberry is running on the correct network e.g. GSM or CDMA based systems.

How do I go about changing the Vendor ID, so I can use a debranded OS instead of the tmobile version?

If you're running Vista simply do the following.

    Click Start

    1. My Computer
    2. Local C
    3. Program Files
    4. Common Files
    5. Research In Motion
    6. App Loader
    7. At the bottom you will see Vendor.xml

Delete that file Vendor.xml as that is what stores information on the Blackberry Carrier e.g. Tmobile. Once that is done the OS should run as a generic unbranded version.

Give me some more details of the problems that you're having as it is obvious that I am not quite getting what you're saying bro

My (unlocked) Gemini is branded to T-mobile.
I deleted the vendor.xml (and the device.xml) file and re installed the leaked OS 5.0

I then tried using the MML tool to load another VSM file to change my vendorID.

No matter what I try, the VID is still "100" (for Tmobile) in comparison to "1" (for RIM) or anything else for Cable&Wireless.
