    Default So many HORROR MOVIES!!!

Has anyone else noticed? The sheer number of horror pictures that have been coming out in the last year or so - They've been coming out ONE right after ANOTHER - without missing a beat, almost one every 2 - 3 months. I've never seen so many horror movies come out in such a short space of time. What the hell is going on here? (literally)

    Check out this list:

    Alone in the Dark
    Hide and Seek
    Boogeyman
    White Noise
    The Grudge

...and I'm sure I'm missing a few more from this list. What's with this sudden macabre fascination with frightertainment? Am I missing something here? Do people genuinely love to be frightened?

They're flicks you can take your girl, and then hold her close when she gets a little frightened.

I agree with you Xeno, and I have my thoughts on it, like I'm sure you do as well. All I know is that the previews alone are too scary and they are way more evil than the horror movies of yesteryear (the blob, the thing, Friday 13th, etc.), not that I was a fan of horror movies in the first place.

"Scary Movie" was good, and the sequels were good too.

"Grudge" is based of a japanese movie, just like "the ring", known as "ringu" in japan.

"Alone in the Dark" loosely based of series of Games, I would like to look forward to it, but it is directed by Uwe Bhol, a german guy who is rated as one of worst directors in history of cinema. ( he did "house of the dead", which went straight to video, and is ranked as pretty much unwatchable, his distro company bought out rights to lots of video game movies, so expect them all to suck).

I want to like "Constantine", but i hate keanu rheeves, dont know if he can do justice to role.
"Cursed" although screenings say it is uneven. Christina HOTTT as hell
"Layer Cake" Violent english gansta flick, like "Snatch", and "Lock, Stock.."
"Ong Bak, muy thai warrior" hear fight scenes will make you cringe..
    just a short list

I don't watch scary movies and I made it my point of duty not to go to the theatres to see them either, especially with a guy.

I have noticed the influx of scary movies that come too. Don't forget "The Saw".

LOOVE HORROR, you guys are lucky horror movies are in vogue now, and not the slasher/REAL gore movies I cut my teeth on. Stuff so violent they are not in any mainstream video clubs or shown in theatres.

    "Cannibal Holocaust"
    "I,madman"
    "Crazy Lips"
    "Back Sun"
this one i forget name about dead mermaid found in sewers and dissected
