    Default Windows Vista Installation Issues

I would like some assistance to rectify this problem I have reinstalled XP, Vista, on several occasions but I have never received these messages before, they are as follows:

I get this one when I try to install Vista from boot up

This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria fir installation.

(checked BIOS but I didn't see anything about "disk controller")

This is the message that I get when I try to install Vista from within Windows

This computer does not have enough space for temporary files. Windows installation needs at least 405 megabytes (MB) of space on any partition for temporary files. To install Windows, free enough space and restart the installation.

    Error code: 0x80004005

(computer has about more than adequate space free perhaps 15-20 gigs)

What is the format of the disk you are trying to install on? (i.e. NTFS or FAT32)

Actually the motherboard is going bad so I'm not sure if that has something to contribute to it but the thing is I can install Windows XP on the machine with no problems but it will just not allow Vista and this is a Laptop by the way.

    That's very odd indeed....

I googled the problem but no definitive answers...

Try setting the HDD to master and unplugging all other drives if any....

Is the disk formatted as a primary or logical partition? check that first. Windows will format it but it may not boot, this may not a any fault of your own. The windows partitioning tool isn't the smartest
    THANK GOD
