Default A question about IT careers

Well, I'm currently attending a computer repairs class, I've been told this won't get me anywhere i need to do the A+ class.

    Questions..

    Is this true?

If so where could i go to do this A+ class and what would be the price?

A+ is an international cert and it covers a lot more stuff than your current class. Apart from teaching you how to repair a computer, you will learn how to deal with customers, troubleshoot problems and a host of other things.

See here for a list of schools.

Some good info on that cert can be found here as well http://www.comptia.org/certifications/listed/a.aspx

A+ is considered the industry standard for entry lvl IT, the cost for the exams are pretty high, about $250USD (i think). But the way the structure the new syllabus it covers a lot more information. A+ is the course that normally points you into the direction you want to go in IT, Hardware (repairs, networking ect) or software (programming, administration servers).

If the school your going to is teaching based off the A+ syllabus you can sit the exam your self.

The CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for computer support technicians. The international, vendor-neutral certification proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting. CompTIA A+ certified technicians also have excellent customer service and communication skills to work with clients.

CompTIA A+ is part of the certification track for corporations such as Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco and Novell. Other technology companies, including CompuCom and Ricoh, have made CompTIA A+ certification mandatory for their service technicians. More than 700,000 people worldwide have become CompTIA A+ certified since the program’s inception in 1993.
    CompTIA A+ Certified
MCTS - Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist - Server Virtualization
MCSA - Microsoft Certified System Administrator - Messaging

It wasn't me!...........okay it was but you have no right to assume!!
