in london here, the typical connection is 512 down and 256 up.
which is what i have. i pay £22/month for it. in fact go here to see what i get. they call it wires only. you buy your own modem and they just make the line ready. you use filters on the phone box. normally 2 comes with the modem.

they now have 1mb and 2mb going into homes but they are only 256 up. bb is only about 2years old here now and the number of users only recently passed 1million recently. uk always wait till the last moment then come flush. typical in every way.
