Default Curve 8520 vs Curve 8900 (Javelin)

It seems to me that the major difference between the 8520 and the 8900 are that the latter has better camera at 3.15mp while the other is 2mp and has touchpad instead of tracker ball. The javelin has a better display, slightly better battery and also have gps (worthless in jamaica imo). The 8520 lacks DivX playback but i am sure that this can be downloaded (right?)

Is there any other massive (don't care about 3g, which neither has anyways) difference which would deter me from getting a 8520 or is the 8520 worth buying?

There are almost the same. If you prefer a wider screen and high resolution camera then the BB 8900 is the device for you. If not, the BB 8520. Most users dont use their mobile for picture taken, podcasting, downloading large files and listening to music. Majority of BB users are business-minded. So 3G is not an issue. The BB 8900 is a great model. If you care about battery life then go for the BB 8900. Before you buy a mobile, think about what you mainly use it for.

how can you even compare the two, the 8900 way outclasses this stupid 8520. The 8520 is a low end blackberry device...just look at the specs

Ha ha I agree. The Javelin is way better than this IMPOSTER not to mention it even carries a smaller onboard memory than the Javelin but then again the model number says it all 8520 isn't that lower than 8900....You decide

Well to each is own because alot a people don't like the trackball option so they might overlook the small on board memory to go for the 8520.

the 8520 i think is -"going to be the cheapest blackberry" based on that the 8520 is less than the 8900 - or everyone would stop buyin the 8900.
    Digi have it now

Digicel Group Marketing Director, Kieran Foley, said of the new handset: “Digicel is once again leading the way in the mobile industry with the addition of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 - which is the most affordable BlackBerry smartphone in our extensive range of innovative handsets. And to make sure that our customers get the best value for their money, Digicel continues to offer a wide range of competitive price plans that have been developed to suit the many different needs of our customers.”
